Last weekend, MTB definitely beat road.

With Beast from the East Pt2 now gone, let's look forward (again) to some sunshine on the trails. Who knows, things might even dry out a bit?

50% off this Diamondback Lumis 1.0 MTB

Diamondback Lumis 1.0 MTB
£600.00
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

For most beginners, the spec will be ideal, with Sram X5 shifting working well in poor conditions. This hardtail would also make a great base for gradually upgrading. The first thing that we'd do would be to make it 1x!

With every purchase of a Garmin Edge 520 or 820, you'll get a free AquaPack phone case to protect it against those nasties! The Garmins are also discounted by up to 18%.

We use the 820 on a daily basis and it's perfect. The mapping is really helpful and it's got all the integration we could ever want.

25% off Panaracer Gravel King SK

Panaracer Gravel King SK
£32.99
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

Getting a gravel tyre right is pretty tricky. They've got to be robust, fast, grippy, tubeless and puncture resistant.

It's a tough one to nail, but Pananracer has done it. Not only do the customer reviews give this a 5/5, David Arthur loved these when he tested them for road.cc

The tyres are really robust, with David not only riding puncture free, but also noticing no cuts over the several months that he tested them for.

Vitus Sentier VRS+ Hardtail Bike - SLX 1x11 2018 Already Under a Grand!

Vitus Sentier VRS+ Hardtail MTB
£999.99
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

Fantastic value yet again from Vitus with this excellent 650b hardtail. It's from the same range as the 29er that scored highly over on off.road.cc.

This, the 650b version, gets a Shimano SLX 1x system making it the ideal aggressive hardtail trail bike.

This would also make a perfect starter bike that could be upgraded later, with the slack geometry providing plenty of stability.

The major difference to the one that was reviewed by Mick Kirkman for off.road.cc is found at the wheels.

Off.Road.cc Review: Vitus Sentier 29 VR

Theirs was the 29er version, a faster rolling but not quite so nimble option. This 650b option comes with plus-sized tyres, resulting in tons of grip and a little more cushioning in the rear end from the ability to run lower pressures.

Tasty 43% off the Mondraker Foxy Carbon RR 27.5 MTB

Mondraker Foxy Carbon RR 27.5 MTB
£3199.99
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

The rapid trail bike just got a £1,499.01 price reduction!

With a full carbon frame, Fox 34 27´5 Float Grip fork and a Fox Float DPS shock, this is a serious performance bike at a reasonably respectable price.

The 27.5" Mavic XA Elite wheelset is perfect, offering a light rim that's still really strong. We're fans of 27.5" wheels. They're ideal for trail riding as they combine good rolling speed with the nimble handling needed for technical trails.

Those wheels are shod with Maxxis Ardent TR Dual Exo 27.5 x 2.4" tyres. These are a nice intermediate tyre and they'll cope well with anything that's not a full-on mud bath.

There are a few colours down to £99!

Road.cc Review: Oakley Jawbreaker Prizm

The style quickly grew on us and once we used them on the bike, we found they were perfect.

The shielding from wind is really good, preventing watering eyes on the first descent of the day. The lenses are also remarkably good at staying clear in the heat.

22 of the best cycling sunglasses — protect your eyes from sun, crud and flying bugs from as little as £4

We haven't had any issues with fogging on climbs or in races, although they will steam up a little if you stop on cold days.

Massive 80% off this Ritchey Commando Fat Bike Frameset

Ritchey Commando Fat Bike Frameset
£179.00
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

This deal is snow joke! Actually, this is just what we were wanting at the weekend. CX bikes just don't cut it in the snow.

Fat bikes are great fun to ride, and having a cheap one in the garage for messing about on is sensible in our opinion.

Whilst their main function is for snow rides, they're also pretty good for muddy rides with the massive tyres providing excellent traction.

At 80% off, the Commando frameset is a great way to build up a fat bike without breaking the bank.

Huge 57% off this Bell Super 2 MIPS MTB Helmet

Bell Super 2 MIPS MTB Helmet
£59.99

With a massive £80 saving, this helmet is perfect for a little lid upgrade.

If you're using goggles, the goggle guide system allows the visor to flip up, giving you space to store them safely.

There are more features too, with the integrated camera mount making things much easier than trying to bodge a mount yourself.

Keeping you safe is the integrated polycarbonate shell. This combines with the MIPS internals to ensure maximum protection in the event of a crash.

The cheapest way to get on-bike footage!

While the quality isn't quite as good as found with a GoPro, the low price is fine for our occasional use. We're also a little reluctant to invest too much money as our last GoPro was left in a muddy CX field.

We'll start at the cheapest end of the scale and work up in price.

Hawkeye Firefly 6S 4K WiFi Sport HD DV Camera - £38.26

Hawkeye Firefly 6S 4K WiFi Action Camera
£38.26
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

This is the cheapest camera in this list, but it's still capable of 4K video, albeit at 24fps.

While that's not much good for cycling, you can still use it for slower shots and the camera will do 1080p at 60fps or 720 at 120fps for faster riding.

The time stamping feature along with the looped recording make this a great budget option for commuters wary of shoddy drivers.

The camera also comes with it's own waterproof case and this will fit a standard GoPro bike mount.

Elephone ELE Explorer 4K Ultra HD WiFi Action Camera - £43.29

Elephone ELE Explorer 4K Ultra HD Action Camera
£43.29
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

Moving up from the basics, this ELE Explorer gets a 16.0MP sensor which also supports 4K video.

This one, however, will be best used at 1080p/60fps as the 4K mode only shoots at 15fps.

Elephone ELE Explorer 4K Ultra HD WiFi Action Camera 1296p Night Video-12, by dealclincher

You do get a 170° wide angle lens and the video quality at night is very good, even among headlights.

This makes it ideal for night commuters.

ThiEYE T5e WiFi 4K 30fps Sport Camera 12MP - £72.66

ThiEYE T5e 4K Action Camera
£72.66
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

Here, we have a great option for bright sunlight conditions.

The camera again shoots 4K at 30fps and also 1080p at 60fps, but the electronic image stabilisation should make this perfect for high-speed alpine road descents.

The low-light performance is also pretty impressive when compared to a GoPro in this side-by-side comparison video.

SJCAM SJ7 STAR WiFi Action Camera 4K - £109

SJCAM SJ7 Star WiFi 4K Action Camera
£109.35
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

The most expensive option on our list is still a fraction of the price compared to a GoPro.

At this price, you get the added bonus of a 2inch touch screen, making changing the settings easy.

The slightly smaller 166° field of view isn't an issue for us as the image quality is really rather good, with the 1080p at 120fps capturing movement smoothly.
