This aluminium road bike comes with a brilliant carbon fork and a spec sheet that is very good for the money.
Specialized’s Allez has been part of the brand’s range for years and these days it represents a brilliant entry-level road bike or beginner race option.
The 2020 Sport model that we have here is perfect for those looking to dip their toe into the world or road cycling.
You’re getting a lightweight aluminium frame with the carbon fork. There’s space for 25mm tyres which give a comfier ride than the narrow 23mm tyres we used to see on entry-level bikes.
There are even mudguard eyelets hidden away, giving you the option of turning this into a speedy commuter.
One of the highlights for us is the Shimano Sora groupset. This is Shimano’s lowest-tier offering but Sora punches well above its price tag these days with accurate shifting and loads of braking power.
Specialized’s own finishing kit rounds out what is a great entry-level road bike.

Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products
We are riders—that fact has guided our every decision since 1974. When quality tires weren't around, we strove to make the best. When people wanted to ride cruisers in the dirt, we made the first production mountain bike. When roadies wanted to go faster, we doubled-down on carbon and built our own wind tunnel. And when we saw kids struggling to focus in school, we started the Specialized Foundation to help them through cycling.
Specialized. Made for riders, by riders.
Cycle Surgery began in 1992, as a bike workshop in Islington. As more and more Londoners turned to mountain bikes, Stephen Swinton and Ben Cater stepped in to offer the kind of servicing and repairs people just couldn’t get elsewhere. Before long, their workshop had become a thriving destination for London’s cyclists. Our founders’ passion for quality workmanship still drives us today, with stores nationwide offering servicing and repairs, as well as the very best brands in road, mountain and urban cycling.
