Giro d'Italia Holiday Deals from Bikecation

Of course, to really beat the rain, you could just head off to sunny Italy...

If you've been stunned by the scenery from the Giro this year then there are plenty of affordable holidays that will allow you to experience these amazing places and ride the same roads as the pros.

Adriatic Coast - Stage 12

san marino.jpg

Stage 12 went to the motor racing circuit at Imola, but on the way there, the riders took in a huge stretch of the Adriatic coast.

Most significantly, the race travelled through Rimini and Riccione. This is where road.cc's Italy Week heads, so we know it well.

There is a brilliant mix of riding, from the flat coastal roads that the pros took to the beautiful rolling hills around San Marino.

It's the perfect location for a family holiday as the coast provides plenty to do for anyone not wanting to cycle.

Lake Garda - Stage 17

lake garda.jpg

Bikecation describes this area as the beating heart of Northern Italy.

We can see why. Lake Garda is located between Milan and Venice and is Italy's largest lake.

The riding around here depends on where you base yourself, with high mountains to the North and more rolling terrain to the South.

Stage 17 of the Giro used one of the climbs from the Northern tip of the lake, going straight up and starting an incredible day of racing.

Dolomites - Stage 15

Passo Giau.jpg

The Dolomites are located in the very North-Eastern corner of Italy and form one of the most beautiful places to ride in the world.

The riding here is pretty brutal, yet the climbs are achievable for most riders and the reward at the top is a breathtaking view and a thrilling descent.

If you saw the Giro stage, you'll have seen quite a few snow-capped mountains, so the best time to go is in the summer months.

This mini-drone might not boast the longest flight time, but with the ability to get this up in the air quickly and then easily get great shots, you really don't need much more operating time.

The best feature for us cyclists is the active track mode. This means that you can lock on to a rider and follow them, be that up a beautiful mountain, or down a technical descent.

The pre-set intelligent flight modes mean that it's easy to create great shots without being a master pilot.

When you're done shooting, the files take very little editing. We like it when drone shots are stitched together with on-bike footage from a GoPro or Garmin Virb.

£449.99
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products

A pair of fast wheels doesn't have to cost the earth.

At £449.99, these wheels from Prime represent great value for money.

The disc brake-specific wheels do away with the issues of poor braking found on rim brake carbon wheels.

Road.cc Review: Prime RP-38 Carbon Clincher

The rim has been designed specifically for use with disc brakes, meaning that the braking surface can be removed from the rim.

This has allowed a wider rim to be designed with a more aerodynamic profile.

The internal rim with is also different to a rim bake, with the 25mm wide rim matching perfectly to wider tyres. Prime recommend using a 25-30mm tyre for the best results.
