BMC Teammachine SLR01 Disc Two 2018 Road Bike
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products
The Teammachine is the bike of choice for the likes of Richie Porte and Greg Van Avermaet whether they're tackling the climbs of the Alps or Flanders.
The super stiff frame is really comfortable to ride and has a great spec with Shimano's Ultegra R8000 groupset in a brilliant 52/36 & 11/30 setup. The added benefits of disc brakes make this a brilliant bike for performance-minded riders.
The Fizik Antares R5 saddle and 25mm Vittoria Corsa tyres round out a brilliant bike. At £1,150 off, we'd snap this one up quickly!
Specialized Allez E5 2019 Road Bike
If you're looking to get a road bike, but you don't want to break the bank, then this is a seriously good option.
With a lightweight aluminium frame giving a fun and responsive ride, this bike is one that we'd also recommend as a quick commuter.
Shimano's Claris groupset is clean, efficient and well-made. The wheels are solid and provide consistent braking in wet weather.
Cube Attain GTC Pro 2018 Road Bike
Cube's Attain GTC is a bike that is known for being perfect for soaking up the miles with ease.
The relaxed geometry makes the bike stable, comfortable but also fast. Pair that with the 11-speed 105 groupset and you've got a brilliant bike.
The Mavic Aksium hoops are light and spin up quickly, making this a good climber too.
BMC Roadmachine 02 Three 2018 Road Bike
BMC's Roadmachine is a bike that would be perfect for fast rides on the roads around us.
The disc brakes are not only better for poor weather, but they also allow the frame to be built with more compliance and room for wide 28mm tyres. The data suggests that this is faster and more aerodynamic.
The 11-speed 105 groupset gives you a great balance of performance and low cost.
Shimano Ultegra R8020 11 Speed Shifter with R8070 Calliper
Shimano's hydraulic road brakes are great because they feel so similar to their rim brake shifters.
This, the mecanical shifting model packs loads of tech into a very small body. The shifting is light and the braking is smooth, powerful and most importantly, controllable.
If you're building up a new bike or upgrading your braking, this is a great deal.
Shimano Ultegra R8000 Pedals
Thought carbon pedals were just for the pros? Think again. These Ultegra R8000 pedals are probably the best value performance pedals we've ever seen.
The bearings are smooth and reliable, the tension is adjustable and we've always loved the cleats.
There is only a slight weight penalty over Dura Ace and you're getting the same stable base that gives both efficiency and comfort.
Kalf Club Thermal Men's Long Sleeve Jersey
You get a jersey that we can see being worn as a jersey on autumn and spring rides and then as part of a layering system with a base layer and raincoat in the depths of winter.
The jersey is made with a very stretchy Italian thermal Roubaix fabric. That gives you a very close fit which is great for an aero fit around the shoulders.
Three deep pockets sit in their usual place and these are finished with an elastic top to keep everything securely inside.
Castelli Belgian Booties, Perfect for Layering and Now 50% Off
Castelli Belgian Bootie
Essentially just a large pair of socks with holes for your cleats, these are ideal for colder weather.
In fact, take a quick look at the early season Spring Classics and you'll see a lot of feet covered by these things.
DeFeet and many other brands make them, but we think these Castelli versions are the best.
They come with the holes pre-cut and then the ends sealed meaning that product life is increased over versions where you cut your own.
The oversocks are also very easy to get on, with plenty of stretch.
They're not waterproof, but they'll protect white shoes from a fair bit of muddy road spray.
Half Price Castelli Pioggia 3 Overshoes
Castelli Pioggia 3 Overshoes
Overshoes are an essential item for winter riding in the UK. Castelli's Pioggia 3 shoecovers are waterproof and really warm.
Some riders think that getting warm feet in the coldest months is a case of buying the thickest overshoes.
But as cycling kit has evolved, we've seen that layering is much more effective for keeping warm. That's why we'd always go with a thinner, waterproof overshoe with an oversock underneath instead of a thick overshoe.
The Pioggia 3 is constructed using a waterproof PU-coated stretch fabric with fleece lined inner. Not only does it block the rain, but it also blocks the wind, which plays a massive part in keeping feet warm.
The sealed seams and waterproof zipper prevent water from seeping in while the silicone grip at inside top of cuff stops water running down into your socks.
Our trick in the coldest weather is to use the overshoes with a pair of oversocks acting as extra insulation. These Altura oversocks are only £3.95!
Huge 35% off this JetBlack Whisper Smart Turbo
JetBlack Whisper Direct Drive Smart Turbo
While riding outside will always be our preference, a turbo is seriously useful for weeknight workouts and rubbish weather.
As any time-pressured cyclist will tell you, there isn't always time to get out on the bike.
That's especially the case in winter when you have to spend ages just getting dressed! When you just want to do a little workout or avoid the rain, a smart turbo is perfect.
This JetBlack Whisper connects up to all the training apps like Zwift, allowing you a more interactive turbo ride.
The direct drive makes this quiet and nicer to use than a wheel driven turbo in our experience.
The turbo is fully self-generating, so you don't need external power to use it. That makes it perfect for taking to races for your warm up.
As a smart turbo, this will adjust the resistance to work fully with training apps.
Huge 32% off this Vitus Venon CRX Disc
Vitus Venon CRX Disc
This comfortable long distance road bike is perfect for tackling the local lanes. It's no slouch though!
We really love the Venon CRX. It's a really comfy bike for rides that last all day. In fact, this bike feels like it's been designed with UK roads in mind.
The carbon frame has space for 30mm tyres, giving brilliant grip with low rolling resistance.
The 142x12 and 100x12 front axles provide increased stiffness making pedalling more efficient and also improving cornering accuracy.
DT Swiss ER 1600 Spline wheels and Ritchey finishing kit rounds out a very good bike.
15% off this Cannondale Synapse Carbon Disc
Cannondale Synapse Carbon Disc 105 2018
The Synapse is perfect for long days in the saddle with road-buzz killing technology in the carbon frame.
The full carbon frame and fork feature Cannondale's Save Plus technology.
Not only does that make the bike lovely to ride on broken roads, but it also keeps you fresher for longer. That final hill might not be such an issue with this bike.
The geometry also helps here. The headtube is taller than the SuperSix, putting you in a more relaxed position.
Shimano's 105 groupset provides a brilliant mix of value and performance. It's also really robust. We've used it all winter with zero issues.
On a bike like this, disc brakes make perfect sense as you're likely to be riding this in some pretty harsh weather.
24% off this Park Tool MT40 Multi-Tool
Park Tool MT40 Mini-Tool
You even get a bottle opener for the real emergency situations!
Park Tool make some really great quality bits of kit. But that not the main reason that we love their stuff so much.
This MT40 Multi-Tool is the perfect example of how well thought-out their sets are. If we can't fix the issue with this, then we're waiting with a coffee while we ring for a lift!
2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8mm Allen keys will sort everything from Di2 limit screws to a loose pedal.
The T-25 and T-30 Torx keys are useful for those main bolt sizes, especially Shimano chainring bolts that can be the first thing to cause a creak.
The combo screwdriver allows you to tune both flat and Phillips head screws.
A chain tool is included allowing you to bodge a single speed system or perform a temporary fix on a broken link.
Continental GP 4 Season Tyres down 48%
Continental GP 4 Season Tyre
The GP 4 Season balance a lot of great features like good rolling speed, puncture protection and high levels of wet weather grip.
It can be difficult to choose a tyre for winter riding. The obvious thing to do is to get a hard tyre to stop punctures from the increased amount of road debris which is where the Gatorskin tyres fit in.
But we find the rubber compound to give a skittish feel on wet roads.
The GP 4 Season tyres are softer, which gives you more grip in the wet and also a comfier ride over broken surfaces.
We'd recommend getting the widest tyres that your bike can take. That way, you can run lower pressures for a comfortable ride.
Merlin currently have a 10% off deal that brings these down to £28.79! The discount is applied at the basket.
40% off the MET Strale Helmet
MET Strale Helmet
A fast helmet doesn't have to cost loads. This MET lid gets loads of trickle-down tech from it's more expensive bigger brothers.
MET have been supplying one of the fastest sprinters, Mark Cavendish for a while now.
Their Strale helmet is a great helmet for riders that are looking for performance gains at a lower cost.
MET have designed this with huge vents that pull air across the head. This makes the helmet aerodynamic and also cool, even when you head uphill at slower speeds.
On the bike, this is a very comfortable helmet and with so many colours to choose from, you'll easily find one to match with your kit!
27% off Bont Vaypor S Carbon Road Shoes
Bont Vaypor S Road Shoes
If we told you to bake your normal shoes at 70°C for 20 minutes, you'd probably think we'd gone nuts, or be expecting a pretty poor cake.
These Bont Vaypor S shoes are designed with a resin that becomes malleable when baked. This then allows the wearer to mould the carbon shell to their foot for greater comfort on the bike.
Judging by the number of professionals who use these shoes, we'd say that it's quite popular.
Mat Brett was certainly impressed when he reviewed them for road.cc, saying they're super-stiff, supportive and comfortable road shoes.
His only criticism was the price, which at full £324.99RRP, is rather steep. But when you can get them at £100 off, they really look like a great deal.
The upper is made from Durolite material to avoid stretching over time, with 2 BOA dials providing incremental closure.
That upper is really easy to wipe clean, keeping the white colour especially, looking fresh.
The deals listed on this page are the best deals on the best cycling products we can find.
