Deals for the Dirt: It's the Off-Road Roundup!
Monday, June 4, 2018 - 09:40
We've been lucky to get perfect riding conditions for the last few weekends.
As this doesn't happen very often, we've been out on the bike at every opportunity, soaking up the sun, and getting some weird glove tanlines!
The deals have been rolling in during the week, so here's the best of the off-road ones.
Mondraker Foxy Carbon RR 27.5 MTB
Commerce content is independent of editorial, and Farrelly Atkinson earns commission from promoted products
The rapid trail bike just got a £1,799.01 price reduction!
With a full carbon frame, Fox 34 27´5 Float Grip fork and a Fox Float DPS shock, this is a serious performance bike at a reasonably respectable price.
This bike has been made with a geometry that keeps it stable on steep, technical descents.
The 27.5" Mavic XA Elite wheelset is perfect, offering a light rim that's still really strong. We're fans of 27.5" wheels. They're ideal for trail riding as they combine good rolling speed with the nimble handling needed for technical trails.
Those wheels are shod with Maxxis Ardent TR Dual Exo 27.5 x 2.4" tyres. These are a nice intermediate tyre and they'll cope well with anything that's not a full-on mud bath.
Five Ten Kestrel MTB SPD Shoes
A massive amount of tech for a tiny price. With BOA dials and a super-grippy sole, these shoes work on both clips and flats for a wide range of uses.
Ask around a trail centre and you'll likely get people firmly in 2 camps. Those that love clips, and others that think those riders are bonkers. Who'd want to be clipped into the bike on technical descents?
The beauty of these shoes from Five Ten is that they actually work really well for both.
The outsole is made from super-grippy rubber which clings particularly well to metal and slick rock. That makes pedal grip really high for those that love to feel locked in.
These shoes are pretty stiff, so while we wouldn't recommend these as your only pair for downhill riding, they're a great pair for switching quickly between clips and flats.
Troy Lee Designs Terrain Shorts
Need some waterproof shorts for a British summer? We've got you covered!
These Terrain shorts offer a high level of water resistance which should see off rain and mud splatter too.
The shorts are also great for spring/summer riding with mesh inserts to help with ventilation.
The TLD's Air 2.0 Liner, a breathable mesh liner puts a breathable layer between your skin and the outer fabric, helping that ventilation.
The elastic waistband and 3" compression cuffs keep the shorts securely in place.
100% Racecraft Goggles
Great ventilation combined with bold styling.
These Racecraft Goggles from 100% are ideal for dusty and muddy conditions when eye protection is vital.
The goggles feature a removable nose guard for seriously tricky conditions. The lenses are also really good when the going gets tough, with excellent ventilation preventing any fogging.
You could even leave these on when you start climbing again.
There is a huge range to choose from, with a style to match any kit.
Muc-Off Nano Tech Cleaner 1L
Cleaning your bike should be a regular task, but it needn't be an expensive one.
Muc-Off have become known for making this bright pink liquid that cleans bikes effortlessly.
Cleaning your bike can, occasionally, be quietly forgotten. The thought of spending 20 minutes cleaning a filthy bike in the rain is too much to take.
One of the best things we've discovered is Muc-Off. We lean our bike up, spray the whole bike with this stuff, then head inside to run some hot, soapy water. By the time we come back the bike is easy to clean and the whole process takes about 5 minutes.
The NanoTech cleaner breaks down dirt and oil on the bike, meaning that it's easier to remove when you return with the soapy water.
Then you can go for that hot shower and recovery ale without feeling guilty!
ProBikeKit have a massive warehouse clearance on right now.
There are some really good deals with some great gravel riding kit.
